Welcome: The Universe is Within Your Reach

Welcome Students and Parents,

My name is Mr. Heline and I will be your student's Introduction to Astromony: Planets, Stars, and the Solar System Teacher this semester.  I have a great semester planned for all of us.  We will use terms associated with space travel, along with reviewing and exploring a space center and a space shuttle.  Once the students have been trained in the fundamentals of space travel, we will blast off into the wild blue yonder!! We will explore and learn about the Sun, the Moon, the Stars, and the nine (9) planets that make up our solar system.  Yes, I did say nine (9).  One of the first assignments that the students will be completing, will be a research debate about whether or not Pluto is a planet?

In addition to this, the students will be also be viewing and taking notes from various powerpoints about the planets as well as viewing informational videos about the planets.  Both powerpoints and videos will be posted to this classroom blog.  Finally, the students will be required to complete a project (and/or experiment) each week that deals with the planet or celetrial body that we discussed in class for that week.

Any questions or concerns, please let me know and remember the sky's the limits.  Each and every student will be made to reach for the stars and beyond in this course.  Have a great semester!

Mr. Heline
